Odia Month Name: The English calendar used Worldwide is the Gregorian calendar. But the Odia Calendar is different from this, where the New Year is known as Pana Sankranti.
Baisakha is the 1st month of the Odia calendar which falls in Mid-April of the English calendar. Odia’s months are based on the Lunar eclipse. Every month, there are two Pakhya – Shukla Pakhya and Krushna Pakhya. Shukla Paksha starts on the day of the dark moon, called Amavasya, and ends before the full Moon. Krushna Pakhya begins on the day of the Full moon, which is called Purnima and ends before Amavasya.
