Odia Meaning of nephew
Nephew means the son of your brother or sister and also the son of your husband’s or wife’s sister or brother.
But in Odia culture brother’s son or sister’s son are two different thing.
In Odia nephew means ପୁତୁରା ବା ଭଣଜା (Putura or Bhanaja).
- For Man: ପୁତୁରା means brother’s son/ son of his wife’s brother or sisters and ଭଣଜା means sister’s son.
- For Woman: ପୁତୁରା means son of her brother or sister and ଭଣଜା means her husband sister’s son.
Odia Meaning of niece
Niece means the daughter of your brother or sister and also the daughter of your husband’s or wife’s sister or brother.
In Odia niece means ଝିଆରୀ ବା ଭାଣିଜୀ (Jhiari or Bhaniji)
- For Man: ଝିଆରୀ means brother’s daughter/ Daughter of his wife’s brother or sisters and ଭାଣିଜୀ means sister’s son.
- For Woman: ଝିଆରୀ means daughter of her brother or sister and ଭାଣିଜୀ means her husband sister’s daughter.
